When a client comes back for a second project, it's rewarding. When they come back for a seventh, it says everything.
This recently completed Coastal design at Wangi Wangi marks the seventh granny flat we have built for this client. Over the years we have worked together on multiple investment properties, creating quality homes that are designed to maximise rental appeal while complementing each individual site.
Every block is different, and this one certainly came with its own challenges.
Making The Most Of Dual Street Frontage
One of the biggest advantages of this property was its dual street frontage. Rather than positioning the granny flat behind the existing home, we were able to orientate it towards the rear street, giving it its own address, street presence and private access.
The result is a home that feels far more like a standalone residence than a traditional granny flat tucked away in someone's backyard. This not only improves privacy for both dwellings but also creates a more attractive outcome for future tenants.
A Challenging Build On A Steep Site
While the dual frontage was a huge advantage, the steep slope of the block made construction anything but straightforward.
Building on sloping land requires careful planning and coordination, with every trade adapting to changing ground levels throughout the build. From excavation through to the final finishes, our team worked together to ensure the project ran safely and efficiently despite the challenging conditions.
To complete the project as a true turn key solution, we also delivered landscaping, new turf, garden planting, a concrete footpath with steps leading to the entrance, dedicated bin storage and a pathway to the clothes line. These finishing touches ensure the home is ready for tenants from day one.
Designed Around The View
One of the standout features of this granny flat is the large front deck overlooking the valley.
Rather than treating the slope as a limitation, we used it to create an elevated outdoor living space that captures the surrounding outlook. A privacy screen was incorporated to maintain seclusion from neighbouring properties while still allowing the occupants to enjoy the expansive views.
Inside, the Coastal design continues to impress with its raked ceilings, spacious open plan living area and practical layout. The client upgraded to a larger kitchen, selected our ever popular sky blue splashback, installed a timber look bathroom vanity and included a 5.5 kW split system air conditioner to provide fast, efficient heating and cooling throughout the year.
Built For Long Term Success
Every investment property should be designed with its future occupants in mind.
From the private street frontage and generous outdoor entertaining area to the upgraded finishes and complete landscaping package, this Wangi Wangi granny flat offers the comfort and functionality tenants are looking for while delivering another high quality investment for a valued repeat client.
Whether your block is flat, steep or somewhere in between, thoughtful design and experienced construction can unlock opportunities that many people never realise are possible.
